Will Gunn awards Joe Sheppard the Pumpkin Trophy for his Prize Pumpkin!

Second Orston Produce Show - Another Great Hit

Sunday 4 September saw the 2nd Orston Produce Show in The Village Hall. Over 50 entrants exhibited their produce from Runner Beans to giant Pumpkins. Results below. The WI were there to feed and water all the visitors and the whole day was a great success.

Lyn Churcher had arranged for a photographer from The Newark Advertiser and we can look forward to several photos appearing there.

Top Vase went to Roland Shepperson whilst there was a big upset in the big competition for the Victoria Sandwich Cake where young Matthew Breedon walked off with top prize and the WI Silver Salver!!

Another young man, Joe Sheppard came 1st in the Pumpkin section with a superb specimen. He received the excellent new trophy made by Will Gunn.

All this didn’t happen by accident and our grateful thanks go to the Garden Club who organised the event, the WI who provided the sustenance, our independent judges who worked very hard to sort the wheat from the chaff as it were, Councillor Martin Suthers for appearing once again to hand out the awards and most of all the exhibitors and visitors who made the day what it was.
