We are a friendly group, currently 25 strong, which meets the second Wednesday of each month in TheVillage Hall, Orston at 7.30pm. Members live in Orston and Thoroton plus neighbouring villages. We combine a programme of speakers with outings to the theatre, a summer garden visit and a Christmas meal.

Summer 2011.
We have enjoyed a range of summer activities including a walk around Bottesford with historian Val Henstock and a visit to Maureen Gladwin's beautiful garden in Bingham. We have also been on a barge trip on the Grantham Canal at Woolsthorpe - photo here - and our August meeting was held at the pub in Car Colston for an evening's bowling followed by supper.

Our fund raising activities included our popular cake stall at the Orston Dog Show and Duck Race, the proceeds of which went to the Alzheimer's Society. We also held a very successful Fashion Show at the Village Hall which we will be repeating in July next year.

The village was treated to a wonderful W.I. refreshment table at the recent Orston Produce Show  and our members received glowing reports from customers. (I can vouch for that - ed) - photo.

Our next meeting in October will be a talk about the National Trust. This is an open meeting so any visitors will be more than welcome - look out for the posters!

March marked the beginning of a new year with the Annual meeting, Jean Purdy agreed to continue as President.
Kirsten Kennedy came to tell us of her work with rescue hedgehogs. She provided a fascinating insight into their world and we all learnt something new! Her prickly friend Maria briefly emerged from her cosy blanket to have her photograph taken with Audrey's flower arrangement below. see below
We have an exciting new programme to come.
Of particular note is our Fashion Show on Wednesday 27 July at Orston Village Hall.
As well as the regular meetings we have a guided walk around Bottesford with Val Henstock, a garden visit in Bingham, meals out, theatre visits and much, much more!
