ORSTON PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON 8TH MAY 2008

PRESENT         Cllrs Henson( Chairman ),  Benton, Davidson, Gunn, Harrison, Oates

APOLOGIES     Cllr Wheeler

                          Cllrs  Cranswick, Suthers

1. Cllr Henson welcomed three members of the public to the meeting;  Brian Gunn, Brian Harrison &  Margaret Henson.

2.  Chairman’s Report

Cllr Henson summarised the activities & issues of the year, the notable highlight being Orston’s success in the Best Kept Village competition.

3. Resignation of Officers

Cllr Henson thanked all present & immediate past councillors for their contributions, in particular Cllr Benton as Vice Chairman, & Cllr Harrison; also clerks Diane Frost & Kath Daw.

He reminded Cllrs of the discussion at last year’s AGM on the possibility of limited tenure for Chairmen, but remaining on the basis of a vote rather than rotational.

Cllrs Henson & Benton resigned as Chairman & Vice Chairman.

4. Election of Officers

Cllr Henson indicated that he was not willing to be nominated as Chairman in view of his increasing absence from the village. He was thanked by KED on behalf of the Council for his hard work & contribution as Chairman for the past 12 years.    

Cllr Harrison was proposed as Chairman by Cllr Henson & seconded by Cllr Gunn, & there being no other nominations she was duly elected.

Cllr Benton was proposed as Vice Chairman by Cllr Davidson & seconded by Cllr Oates, & there being no other nominations he was duly elected.

Cllrs Harrison & Benton signed the Acceptance of Office forms.

5.Minutes of AGM held on 17th May 2007

These minutes were noted, having been previously signed as a correct record.

6. Matters Arising

No additional matters were arising, other than agreement for the Clerk to write to the Rushcliffe Printing Service to express thanks for their efficient & reasonably priced service.

 

7. Financial Report

The   Financial Statement for 2007/8 was presented to the meeting, was accepted as a true record & signed accordingly.

KED undertook to provide a detailed analysis of receipts & payments for the next meeting.

It was agree to consider spending plans for the new financial year at the next meeting.

8. Comments from Members of Public

Brian Harrison expressed thanks to Cllr Henson for his Chairmanship.
